North Park has been pinpointed by Forbes magazine as number 13 in America’s list of Best Hipster Neighborhoods. So, it is no surprise that this trendy neighborhood is filled with some of the most enticing and unique new restaurants. As any good foodie knows, where the hipsters go, good food will surely follow. Sea Rocket Bistro, comfortably nestled in the heart of North Park, has been making a mark as one of the best farm-to-table foodie finds.
Self-proclaimed as “Humble & Creative Local Food,” the restaurant prides itself on supporting and drawing inspiration from the surrounding community through purchasing local goods and creating plates inspired by California’s offerings. With an ever-changing seasonal menu boasting sustainable seafood, organic produce, local craft beers and California wine, the options are endlessly enticing. From lobster, scallops, and the highly-praised sea urchin to lamb and house-made gnocchi, your palette will be pleased with anything the restaurant has to offer.
Keeping in concept with serving the local community, Sea Rocket Bistro also provides special event nights to help bring people with similar passions together. The restaurant features events such as Italian Film Night, sponsored by the local Italian language instructor and featuring a three course prix fixe menu, and La Touissant Vegan French Cooking Class in which 15 students can share the joy of learning, cooking, and then eating a communal dinner together. Aside from the superb spread and spirits, it is events like this and the feeling of community the restaurant instills that mark it as a true gem.
