New tour, Old Town

Old Town has played home to many ‘firsts’ in San Diego County: the first court house, the first public schoolhouse, the first parochial church in the first parish in California, and the first office of the San Diego Union newspaper. Now, we can proudly boast that Old Town, the historic heart and founding of San Diego, is also home to our tasty walking tour!

Home to America’s most haunted residence, The Whaley House, and the tormented souls of Yankee Jim and Violet Whaley, there is no question that our tour will turn up some buzz worthy tidbits. Not to mention, the good eats are guaranteed to take you on an experience for the senses.

Bite into this: In January 1847, 500 men and 32 women arrived in San Diego in support of the military garrison in Pueblo, Mexico. The men and women had marched from Council Bluffs, Iowa. The march from Council Bluffs, Iowa to San Diego is the longest in military history. The march covered 2,000 miles of terrain!
