Coronado: why Some Like It Hot

Fifty-three years ago director Bill Wilder considered Coronado and the iconic Hotel Del as the perfect back drop to shoot the legendary film, Some Like It Hot. Over 100 years ago L. Frank Baum wrote the majority of his children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz while residing at the Hotel Del.  Established almost 200 years ago, the sandy shores of Coronado have long been a source of inspiration to its inhabitants.

With all of its history and infamy, it is no wonder we have considered Coronado as an ideal backdrop to our tasty walking tour.

Check out Bite San Diego and this tasty little tidbit: rumor has it that the architecture of the Hotel Del inspired the designs for the fictitious Emerald City, the capital city of the Land of Oz.
